STA Participates in West Coast Cup

For the very first time, the STA had players in the West Coast Cup held this month in San Francisco. The West Coast Cup is a competition among the west coast cities GLTA clubs for bragging rights among 'C' level tennis players. Though we were not able to field our own team of 12, we combined with players from Vancouver B.C., and borrowed a few others to make up a mighty team.

Together we took one singles match and one doubles match and had an amazing time with our sister clubs from San Diego, Los Angeles and San Francisco.

Congratulations to our players from STA including Korland Simmons, Ken Kramer, Christine Neilson and Gary Renville for a job well done! In 2019 West Coast Cup will be held in San Diego and we hope to fill a full team from Seattle!

STA Challenge Ladder

The 2018 first half challenge ladder grand prix races have just concluded.  Congratulations to Ben Killey and Mia Nguyen for winning their respective men's and women's grand prix races.  Each wins $50 for their efforts.  This also means that the slate has been wiped clean and the 2018 2nd half grand prix races start anew!  Challenge your fellow members and earn a little spare change!  If you're not familiar with the rules you can find them here!

San Diego Retains PAC-CUP Despite Feisty Seattle Team

Despite the valliant effort of the Seattle Tennis Alliance Pac-Cup team, the San Diego Tennis Federation was able to retain the Pac-Cup by the narrowest of margins.  The San Diego and Seattle teams tied for first place based on wins and losses which meant that the winner was to be determined by the team with the greater total number of sets won.  San Diego edged out Seattle by a single set for the title.

Congratulations to the Seattle team for a great showing and to all the west coast clubs for participating in this years' Pac-Cup event!
